We had no idea what to expect when we boarded our flight to Vietnam. After a week of exploring Bangkok, we were ready to see something new.
Once you’ve spend some time traveling in SE Asia, you’ll realise that being on time is normally never a really good idea. Being on time at the airport is important though. After we missed our flight, we scheduled a new one for the next day. Fortunately, once we finally departed and settled in, we knew this trip was going to be amazing. Saigon was our first stop and surprised us with such a bustling vibe. The streets were filled with people, animals and motorbikes.
We explored Saigon for about a week and fell in love with this city and our first impression of Vietnam. It’s a country with the vibe of change. A country in development. A country that is not yet being really ‘westernised’. And we loved that.
After a few days in Ho Chi Minh city we booked a little trip down south to explore the mekong delta, only to experience how touristic a place can be. Sadly we had no chance to get away from all the tourists, but we still managed to get a glimpse of what the south of Vietnam has to offer.
Our next big stop was Hoi An, a beautiful ancient town in the center of Vietnam which welcomed us with its beautiful ancient buildings and an amazing street vibe. We got us a motorbike and went for a trip along the coast to get away from the bustling touristic areas and found ourself experiencing Vietnam in a totally different way. Small streets on the beach, bustling local markets and beautiful scenery accompanied us all the way.
